Yep, the figure 8 and the smile are two good examples when learning to weld. I sound like I'm an expert or something. Heck I haven't welded for ~25 years now.
However, I can remember my uncle teaching me to weld when I was 10. The 8 was the one that did it for me. I got to fix my mini-bike handlebars.
I used to fly on that thing. I was doing jumps and breaking the handlebars every week or so..
Did you ever find your stuff? I hope mom didn't throw it away. I've had some good junk tossed out over the years. _________________ Chris Dierkens

I was patching my chimney and a friend was helping and he decided that it would be funny to put the stuff on top of the chimney.
So I went up there and got them all, but he didn't think it was that funny with 2 missing drive shafts
For the welding the beads are getting better, I used a C pattern. I will take some pics soon. And I all most got some more parts for my motor! _________________ NE Gang member

I took typing in High School a few decades ago just to be with the girls instead of another stupid studyhall. Little did I know that I'd be typing all day long. It only takes practice and dedication. It makes a world of difference in my little world of engineering. _________________ Chris Dierkens
