What does the 6 inch pipe do with the Uni filter? Is it just for looks or does it improve performance? I have order a 2" uni and a 122 and a 125 jet blade power sports. Blades website says "In most case you will require a rejet jetting as well, if you are not modifying your exhust, a 122 to 125 Jet will normally do the job."

So that being said if if it is a performance improvement will the 6 inch pipe work for my application? The Uni filter and the rejet will be the first mods I have no done.

On most 150cc engines there's a crossmember close to the carb that prevents you from mounting the Uni right on the carb. The short piece of pipe just extends past the crossmember to where there's more room for the filter.

Thanks for the info. I thought it was a performance or look thing, but it is clear now.

Adam does your Dazon have a swingarm crossmember in the way of the carb intake? If it does and it looks like you can just barely fit a pipe underneath it like this:

...then you need the 1.5" Uni and drain pipe. The part number for that Uni is UP4152ST.

and since you have a Dazon you can get the "Team Dazon" Outerwears prefilter to fit over the filter.

ive been told to NEVER put the filter directly onto the carb with the smaller motors. Reason being is that it acts like a velocity stack, increasing the amount of compressed air entering the chamber, as well as increasing the speed after the filter into the carb for quicker delivery... This will ensure a better fuel to air mixture, and necessitate the use of a larger jet.

I dont know what the reason behind not putting it on bigger engines is, maybe due to different compression ratio's or since there is more volume due to piston size, it is unnecessary to add the pipe, but I just did waht someone else told me!!! lol... I have a 1-1/4" PVC pipe with a fern-co coupling to the carb, and a K&N filter with a outerwear sock on it for that extra protection.... I love the way it looks, very professional and very functional im comparison to the crappy junk air box I used to have....

Speaking of which... Done anything to the Dune lately Mark??? Does it even get to leave the garage anymore since the RZR popped in????

lol

John the only mod action the Dune has seen in the past 6 months was to take off the Koso variator (flat spots on rollers) and HiT clutch and put the stock gear back on. Not an indication that I dislike those items but I don't have time to tweak them and I've taken the Dune up to my cabin for the winter. Got a little seat time in before the snow hit but now it's done til I open the cabin in the spring.
