We'll be out in the middle of no-where. It should be nice and dark for you unless the lights from the dam are too bright up the river.

My only real concern is all the dust!
These scopes don't take too well to dirt.
It is kind of a pain to set up and I'm only good for about an hour tops, before I've run out of stuff to see. You would think with a billion stars, it would be easy to find stuff but you'd be surprised at how hard it is to line up something a billion light years away that is constantly moving!
Venus is dominant in our skys now and is pretty cool to see and Saturn is awesome but is too low in the sky by the time it gets dark so difficult to see. The Moon is always good for a couple "oohs and Ahhh's" almost any night.
If I have room, I'll bring it along. If the conditions suck, I'll just leave it packed up.
Can we ride after dark up there?

From what I remember it was quite dark. Should be good!
It was so cool seeing buggies with headlights go by at 10pm

The night ride was one of the funnest rides last year.
Well all the rides were a blast-
I can't wait to tackle the infamous 400 Hill again! That will make for some good video footage.
Who is bringing video cameras?

I don't go anywhere without my camera!
Especially when I'm out riding!
I'm bringing my laptop as well so I can download the pics and vids to it and take more!!
I'm going to make a 30 minute documentary on these buggies and the people who ride them!

Last minute questions:
Anyone know what time the gate will open Friday? I got there about noon last year but it looked like things were already under way.
Will there be any waiver issues or the need for anyone to "represent" the forum?
Is anybody hoteling Thursday night near Louisville?

I don't remember the exact time I arrived last year, but it was real close noon, the gates had just opened and I sat in line on the road for some time while the folks in front of me filled out paperwork.
