2 of my best friends have bouhgt the GK-32. One bought locally and somehow has a temporary tag on his to make it street legal. The other has done some good riding off road.
First impression:
We assembled the buggies in a few hours. We immediately chunked the airbox crap and replaced with a 3" opening K&N and adjusted the timing. I am impressed with what you get for the $$. The frame seems sturdy and the suspension is much better than I thought it would be. We also cut out and attached diamond plate underneath the seats and as a firewall since the buggies did not come with it. Nice looking buggies.
First rides:
My friend that bought locally has the tag on it. We literally drove the buggy about 100 miles on-road the first couple days. They are NOT a speed demon but we did manage to register about 60 mph on the GPS. We were hitting any cutoff we could(ie. powerline trails, etc). Again, I was impressed with the overall climbing ability and smooth ride. The tires that come on the buggies are not good IMO. they were way out of round and there is nothing you can do short of replacing them to remedy the problem. We put some used street tires and rims we located for $150...major improvement in on-road handling and acceleration(due to a slightly smaller diameter tire).
First problems:
The taillights and turn signals were broken off from sticks and the rear tires. We rigged these back on in a less than impressive way. The cv boots ripped immediately...we purchased new boots and replaced them ourselves, no problem since - yet. The thermometer apparently broke and the radiator fan would not turn on...we by-passed the thermometer and hooked the fan directly to a switch, it is now operated manually. BOTH rear tires have been puntured and ripped(easily) by trail objects. Placed a tube in one and Replaced the other tire. No other problems SO FAR.
First real off-road ride:
Overall, I am impressed with the ability of the machine. It will climb just about anything you point toward, the only limiting factor is power. The buggy climbs well in first and 2nd gear but if the incline is too steep, it will not continue to pull 2nd. If you drop to 1st, you don't have enough speed. I am sure a turbo upgrade would help out here. Handling wise, I am VERY impressed. We would get going as fast as possible and hit a large jump and barely come off the ground. IT would turn well and break loose(slide) in the right conditions. Back to jumping - the buggy has been off the ground at least 4-5 feet and landed fairly smooth. We managed to bottom out on the larger jumps. We jumped the buggy repeatedly. We climbed some near vertical hills and launched off the top, no problem - repeatedly. We were able to maintain at least 50 mph on the harder pack long trails that are around our lease. It was a blast to ride and drive this buggy!
Conclusion: I am impressed overall and frankly can't believe what you get for the $$. The buggy does not stack up to my Honda Pilot or my 450R, but you cannot take someone with you on those. With a minor power increase, I think the buggy would be perfect. I would not regret for a second buying one of these buggies. They are great fun plus you can share your fun with a friend.....BUY ONE!!
Sorry I dont have pictures for anyone...Too much fun riding!
If you need more power I have the turbo kit for you.
